About eight decades ago specifically in 1939,the great tunisian poet Berm wrote those wonderful words to be melodized by the great musician Muhammad Abd Al Wahab and to be sung by the famous singer Asmahan As an expression of that wonderful life of the peasant in Egypt.

During the cotton harvest season, the joy of the Egyptian peasant is obvious, usually the wife stands by her husband, everyone of all ages, girls and ladies stands side by side delighted with the white gold.
